Task 2 Research: SST Student to teacher relationship affecting academic results (updated into a new post)

Investigation on Student - Teacher Relationship

This research is related to Relationships. This research aims to find out how Student-Teacher relationship affects academic results.

Generated Essential Questions:

1) Are the teachers and students aware of each of their situations?(eg. how they feel thus   treated suitably)

2) Can our relationship be improved for the better of our academic results? How and it ways possible?

3) What is the most suitable, friendly and yet respectful manner to treat each other to help better achieve academic results?

4) Is more time needed to spend on relationship or is it too much?

7) What are the factors affecting the results of students, from relationships between teachers and students.

5) How will the level of relationship between students and teachers and their academic results affect their lives now and after they leave the school?

6) Will the type of student/teacher being taught/teaching affect the exam results of students?

7) What are the factors affecting the results of students, from relationships between teachers and students.

Finalised Ranking of Essential Questions:

-7, 2, 1, 5, 6, 4, 3

Justification write-up:  Relevancy

The relationship between a student and the teacher is important as it affects our environment and our education. Of course, years of education in school, each student will definitely have various factors from other students that affect . Having a good relationship with a teacher is important thus the teacher can understand and help students out more. This is a good topic to research on as this helps to find out more and understand each other better, improving academic results for students. A positive relationship can vary to set a learning experience encouraging the students to learn, having them in active participation. A teacher and student who have good communication skill between one another and respect for each other will establish a positive relationship in the classroom.Teachers who demonstrate respect towards their students, will have active learners in their classroom.

Improving students' relationships with teachers has important, positive and long-lasting implications for students' academic and social development. Solely improving students' relationships with their teachers will not produce gains in achievement in exams . However, those students who have close, positive and supportive relationships with their teachers will attain higher levels of achievement than those students with more conflictual relationships. If a student feels a personal connection to a teacher, experiences frequent communication with a teacher, and receives more guidance and praise than criticism from the teacher, then the student is likely to become more trustful of that teacher, show more engagement in the academic content presented, display better classroom behavior, and achieve at higher levels academically. Positive teacher-student relationships draw students into the process of learning and promote their desire to learn

Methodology, feasibility and manageability:

Our method of doing this report is by interviewing students and teachers from S1-03 as they are the target audience of this project, how they feel about the class’ academics results and what lacks regarding the relationship.

Procedures and Data analysis:

We are going to gather the data by interviewing students and teachers from s1-03 about their views on this topic, asking them some of the essential questions. Data will be collated and presented in a short video. To analyse the data, we will share our opinions/views and what the majority of students and teachers think about the relationship between each other, affecting the class’ academic results.

Task 2 Research: Video Draft Proposal

As we are students ourselves, we can easily portray the students perspective when making this video. So in this video, i would focus more on the teachers' side than the students' side. This way students will reflect on what they have done in the past to their teachers.

Our research aims to let everyone have a better understanding on how important student to teacher relationship is. So with the stated method above, we can let students relate to their daily lives and let them have a better understanding on what are they doing.

Thanks,
Desmond

Task 1 (Write-Up): Haady (20)

It is important that we, citizens of Singapore are aware of the Air pollution levels. Air is a basic necessity of life thus we must take good care of it. Recently, there was a haze in Southeast-Asia that severely polluted the countries. This haze was caused by farmers in Sumatra, clearing up the forest for land by the slash-and-burn method. The government of Indonesia should take cautious precautions and perhaps help and do something to this incident. Thus we must treasure our air and not pollute it and take it for granted.

Thank you,
Haady

Task 2-Relationship between students

I think relationship between our friends should strong as most of the time we are with them when we are in school. If you do not have any friends, your life in school would be very boring and though.Besides that,we also need our friends help like when we do not know how to do our work friends can also talk to you when you are bored ect. We can also work better with project if we know the people we are working with.

Thx

Relationships

Student to student relationship.

Student to student relationship is very important as we see each other almost every school day and we must be able to interact with other well to be able to do group tasks such as presentations and performance tasks. If we are unable to interact with each other well, we will be unable to do these tasks and it will be awkward for everyone. Another important aspect of having close relationships with each other is that we will not trust each other. Spending school days with people you do not trust is almost impossible and you will not be able to seek for help from your fellow classmates easily.

Thank you
Clarie~

Task 1 (Big Idea): Haady (20)

Currently, the biggest environment problem in Singapore is air pollution. Recently, there had been a terrible haze polluting the whole of Singapore. The Per Square Inch (PSI) reading escalated up to 507 which has already reached way above the hazardous level.

Fortunately, the PSI reading has depleted to good reading of 27. The haze may come back anytime, so we better be prepared. The framers in Sumatra used the ‘slash and burn’ method to clear out the forest for land for farming.

Hotspots could be found in many places around the Sumatra, Southern Malaysia and Singapore region during the month of June. N95 mask had ran out of stock in Singapore and a massive amount of orders of N95 mask crashed Amazon’s server. News said that this incident finally sets Singapore on the map, not in China.

The Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, as well as Vivian Balakrishnan, the Singaporean Minister of Environment and Water Resources, have expressed concern over the haze, calling on Indonesia to do more to resolve the issue.

However,  Agung Laksono (Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare) accused Singapore of acting "like a child", to emphasize its view that Singapore was being immature. In response, Singapore's Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong responded that "the Singapore Child is being suffocated", borrowing the same descriptor to highlight the nation's innocence yet vulnerability in the haze crisis.

During the first four days of the haze, the government and other institutions implemented a series of safety precautions, meant to reduce exposure to the haze and outdoor activities were restricted.

In some countries, for example Bangkok, had run out of N95 mask too. This shows that the haze from the burning forests of Sumatra had caused a major impact on other countries.

Many citizens of Singapore were suffering from the severe haze in singapore. This incident shows how important and why we should keep our air clean.

Task 1(Write up): Desmond Kwa

Relationship

Student- Teacher relationship

The student-teacher relationship is very important in our education life. Students spend nearly 5 to 7 hours a day(not including CCAs) with a teacher for over a span of 10 months. And while going through education, we will definitely have a favourite teacher. A teacher, is just a normal person that educates. So with that said why does most students like to draw a line between teachers and them. Why don't they be friends with their teachers? With better relationship between you and your teachers, it would be easier for your teacher to understand you and make better arrangements for you. So having a positive teacher relationship is extremely important.

Thank You

Desmond Kwa
